NEW STUDENT GUIDE

We are so excited that you want to learn more about us! My name is Matt Gilbert and I served on our student leadership team. Here are answers to some common questions asked about our ministry…

What is the Wesley Foundation?
The Wesley Foundation is a ministry of the United Methodist Church that serves students during their time in college. We know that ETSU feels like a huge place, but Wesley can make it feel just a little bit smaller! Here at Wesley, you can find a community that supports you in your faith, friendships, and all that life brings! The Wesley brings opportunities for spiritual growth, making friends, leadership, service, and missions. We have everything from big events to small groups, and one-on-one mentoring, so there is a place that is just right for you!

How can I get started?,

You can start by joining us anytime. Join us for Tuesday night worship at 7PM, check our social media pages for updates on what’s happening and join us for any upcoming events! All college students are welcome.

Where are you located?

1100 Seminole Dr. Johnson City, TN 37604. Walking distance from ETSU’s dorms.

What happens during the week at Wesley?
Our Tuesday night worship service starts at 7pm. We have a Wednesday morning Bible study in the Culp at 10am. We take part in local mission projects, we have Wesley on Tour where we go to local churches on Sunday, small group hikes, we have lunch in the Culp together, and so much more!

When are you open?
The ETSU Wesley Foundation building is open all week for students to use as a place to hang out, study, pray, worship together and to be a home away from home. The Wesley building offers free wi-fi, ping pong table, pool table, prayer room, free coffee and snacks, a fire pit, and so much more. The Wesley is a place that is made for students!

Are you a church?

No. We are a ministry provided by the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church. The Wesley encourages all of our students to be actively involved in a local church. Part of our mission is to help you find a great church to call home. If you are looking for a church you can email us at etsuwesley@gmail.com and we would be happy to help.

Do I have to attend ETSU?

No. We welcome any and all students attending any college.

Do I have to be Methodist?

No. The ETSU Wesley is a ministry of the Holston Conference of The United Methodist Church and is open to all ETSU (and other neighboring college) students. Our table is your table! We hope to see you soon.

Are graduate students welcome?
Yes! All students are welcome and we love having graduate students as a part of our community.

Are transfer students welcome?

Yes! Wesley is a great place to find community and to become acclimated to campus. Join us anytime!

What if I’m a high school senior?

We would love to connect with you now! We have a gift we would like to send you along with additional information. You can email us at etsuwesley@gmail.com.

How can I get more involved?
With the Wesley there is an opportunity to join our Leadership Team! Please see Caleb to apply.

What kind of mission work do you do?

We go on a big mission trip at the end of every spring semester. These missions have included trips to Alaska, New Mexico, New York City, and more. In addition we take part in various local mission projects every semester. These projects have included working on Habitat for Humanity houses, helping to stock local food pantries, partnering with local churches, and more. See our missions page to learn more.

What if I have more questions?

Please email us any questions you have about our ministry or email us with ways we may be able to help you or a student you know at etsuwesley@gmail.com.
